I upcycle mostly natural found fibers into hats, bags, and accessories. I supplement with notions from my personal stash, and use high-end couture fabrics for my Über line. You can purchase pre-made items and place a custom order on my Etsy site: www.etsy.com/shop/RussheHaus
RussheHaus goods are the natural products of my passion for the practical reuse of raw materials, pattern making, and non-homogeneous individual creations that are unique, interesting, and comfortable.
Why use found fibers? The fabrics in a thrift store are far superior to those in the disposable fashion cookie cutter stores of this century. I find heavy Scottish wool tweeds and medium weight Pendleton plaids, 2-ply cashmere, butter soft cotton. Mixed with my personal stash of vintage suiting in wools and silks, I’m able to make one-of-a-kind handcrafted products from materials you can’t find in a fabric store.
I design, test, create, and alter all my own patterns, based on the needs and requests of my clients or my own inspiration. Although I have several styles of hats and bags that are staples, my product list is always growing. If you have something you’ve been looking for, send me an email! I always love a challenge.
If you are local, my hats are in Hickory, NC at Bottega in downtown Hickory. On Saturdays in season, you can find me at the Hickory Farmers Market.
